They feature fresh seasonal ingredients in their cooking and focus on true Canadiana with a strong hint of the Mennonite and lakeside country flair. Foods of Provence in southern France reflect in some of their favourite dishes. Dessert pies follow the seasons with rhubarb in the spring to concord grape in the fall! Breakfast for the Suites served in the main dining room, or on the porch in the summer and good weather and includes daily specials or perch and eggs. A Symbol of HospitalityThe pineapple is regarded as a symbol of hospitality brought to us by Spanish Ship captains and found in North America as this symbol especially on the east coast of Maine. The story retells about the ships that brought back fresh fruit from the tropical islands to the mainland. The captain of the ship when in port with all this fresh fruit would slice off the bottom of a pineapple and attach it to the end of his gatepost as a symbol that he was in town and welcomed all the villagers to come and share in his bounty. We are guessing they did come and ate fresh fruit and were welcomed by the captains hospitality! Therefore this symbol of the pineapple and hospitality has grown around the world and is now also found in the Pineapple Dining Room of Telegraph House, in Port Stanley. Almost all of the pineapples you will see here are gifts from friends, on the shelves, in the gardens and on our walls! We welcome you to come and enjoy our hospitality in this new room! |
